It seems in my wild traveling I missed telling you some exciting news – I put on the journalist hat. Twist Collective published my article detailing my fabulous trip to Peru! Whoot! Take a peek here and while you’re there you better check out the beautiful patterns…
In the article I mention I could write volumes on my chullo collection alone. What I especially liked while in the highlands of Peru, was the casual way men wear their chullos in daily life, the way the men in the US might wear a baseball cap.
We passed a curious sculpture…but were not lucky enough to see this look in the flesh.
If you want a great trip to Peru go with Cynthia!

Your photos were so inspiring and I was really looking forward to doing a bit of yarn-shopping while we were in Cuzco (even googled to find the address of the shop you mentioned), but our itinerary was so packed there was no time! But I think we were there on a Sunday, so I guess I couldn’t have gone even if we’d had an hour to spare. I consoled myself with the thought that my stash didn’t really need any augmenting anyway. :}
But I WILL buy plenty of wool when I go to Scotland next month. Speaking of which, did you fly to Shetland or take the ferry? Loved those photos you posted too!

Thanks you two! Camille, I flew to Shetland from Glasgow, and took the ferry back to Aberdeen. If you take the ferry, you have to book pretty early because it fills up. I got a berth, the last one, so it was a 2 person one, which I had all to myself until the middle of the night when a teenager got on in Orkney. Fun and kind of fancy! It takes 12 hours.

I loved the article in Twist, so many wonderful photos, and particularly the description of the woman with many skirts tipping over like a tilted teacup to reveal more and more colors.
