Ok so I know I promised more travelogue….I lied….How about Flashback Friday instead? I think this is around 1984 on 9th Street in the East Village. NYC. The shop went out of business and I bought the sign, even brought it to Maine where it hung in our kitchen.I used to always have a loaf of that squishy white bread in the freezer. You can still get it in Virginia I think.
I never ate the bread. It was the same loaf of bread….always in the freezer for show and tell.
LOVE! I might have to see if I can dig out a flashback friday photo for next week. Not sure if I was nearly as cool as you though.
i think i am in love with you, mary jane. did you lose the sign in the fire? Also: that belt! I think i had one exactly like it! And i probably wore it in 1984 on 9th street in the East Village (i was living in NYC in 1984)! If you still have that handbag, please mail it to me.

Mary! We were neighbors and didn’t know it! Sign burned up. Waaaaahhhhhh…My son might have the belt…I lost that bag at a late night fashion party in the meatpacking district…I left it in my bicycle basket…can you imagine? duh. I did pick the downstairs lock with my hairpin though, so I was feeling proud like a cat burglar.
Oh man this is fabulous!
How FUN!!!
This made my night.
