Hand Knitting Blog & Knitting Patterns

Santiago de Chile

November 26, 2012 by Mary Jane 1 Comment

I’ve spent much of November teaching on Craft Cruise’s South American Knitting Adventure with my friend, the Andean knitting and textile scholar Cynthia LeCount Samaké! First we flew into Santiago de Chile, a great city. I would plan on a few extra days next time.
Along the Mapocho River, on the way to the Pablo Neruda museum we found a mural featuring a chullo.

The Chilean Flag Flies over the Mercado Central, the main seafood market and place of many restaurants.

My new friend Alexis LeCount of Lexie’s Frozen Custard fame, enjoys an empanada at an old-school restaurant, Emporio Zunino, operating since 1930.

An unlikely Madonna location, Madonna of the Steam Pipes.

Murals and art are everywhere!
